The Future of Manufacturing is with Smart Factory

According to the latest report of Global Market Insights, Inc., the smart factory market is anticipated to rise from USD 75 billion in 2018 to over USD 155 billion by 2025. The smart factory plays a vital role in the future of manufacturing and metalworking owing to the growing demand for industrial solutions which optimize output and save both labor and operational costs.

Mr. Vu Trong Tai, General Manager of Reed Tradex Vietnam share his point of view: “The factories that are digitally advanced & connected facilities will sharpen the manufacturing performance in a host of operations. Several technologies, namely as IoT, AI, big data, and analytics in the smart factory market have the ability to operate autonomously and correct by itself. Various planning & management software detect probable errors and alert managers to eliminate losses, creating a high demand for these solutions. In addition, government initiatives & policies in the European and Asian countries to promote the utilization of intelligent factory techniques are also major factors attributing to smart factory expansion. Due to the popularity of cost-effective and automated benefits, the industry is witnessing a high demand from the manufacturing, metalworking, automotive, processing, etc.”

Besides, Mr. Vu Trong Tai said about the trend of the smart factory market in the era of Industry 4.0: “The Industry 4.0 and the smart factory will impact machine tools in several ways. First of all, Industry 4.0 introduces an entirely new opportunity in the form of preventive maintenance, and Big Data solutions even make it possible to build predictive models and algorithms that can be used to identify potential failure points. Secondly, incoming data — collected by IoT sensors and platforms — can be used to inform operations better. Smart meters can be put in place to manage the flow of energy efficiently. Equipment can be automated or powered appropriately to lessen their environmental and resource impact. Thirdly, Industry 4.0 and the related technologies will transform this process completely by introducing real-time quality assurance (QA) through an automated virtual metrology (AVM) system. Fourthly, the future machine shop or factory floor will be extremely efficient as humans, machines and robots work side-by-side in a smooth, safe environment. Lastly, new machining centers will be used”.

Mr. Huynh Phong Phu, Local Business Manager, Robotics and Discrete Automation, ABB Vietnam evaluate the trend of using industrial robots in Vietnam today: “The auxiliary manufacturing industry in Vietnam is growing more than ever while converging at the same time with many conditions: The emergence of large-scale manufacturers in the world such as Samsung, LG, Toyota, Honda, Canon, Brother in Vietnam, some of these production facilities are in the heart of the worldwide supply chain. Vietnamese manufacturers and assemblers have also developed to a large scale and complied with production regulations and standards of the world. These two conditions have promoted the development of the auxiliary manufacturing enterprises. Product requirements and productivity also increased.”

Mr. Huynh Phong Phu introduced: “ABB robot has been applied in many industrial productions with the optimized software and solutions from over 40 years’ experience. Some applications include: picking, packing, pallet loading in consumer, food and beverage industries; Welding, cutting, metal processing in the automotive, motorbike, auxiliary industries, metal products manufacturing in general; Assembly and inspection in electronics industry. ABB has recently installed and commissioned over thousands robots in automotive, electronics, animal feed, food and beverage, chemicals, metal and brick fabrication sectors to drive efficiency and quality. ABB will be opening the second robotics center later this year in Ho Chi Minh City to enable faster response nationwide to support its customers to meet manufacturing goals of today and tomorrow”.

At METALEX Vietnam 2019, which will be taking place from 10 to 12 October, 2019 at S.E.C.C (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam), ABB will show a fully automated production demo, the robots are synchronously con-trolled by ABB AbilityTM Connected Services, a sophisticated suite of digital services. Being delivered via ABB’s MyRobot, a single, intuitive interface, ABB AbilityTM Connected Services make actionable data available anywhere and at any time to enhance robot uptime and optimize the performance of robotic systems. Customers will also experience the concept of a future and smart manufacturing, which ensures all quality, productivity, price, stability and safety. In addition, ABB will also simulate a metal process from workpieces, welding, product bearing and finishing.

METALEX Vietnam 2019, Vietnam’s international exhibition on machine tools & metalworking solutions for production upgrade will be under the theme of “Rising with Innovations”, focusing on the Smart Factory concept. Innovative machine tools, precision engineering, and metalworking technologies could launch new levels of production; ones which over 10,000 industrialists from a diverse range of industries will discover from over 500 brands from 25 countries at METALEX Vietnam. This year, WELDING Vietnam 2019, the only international exhibition specializing in welding & cutting materials, equipment, and technologies in Vietnam will be co-located with METALEX Vietnam. This show promises to be an all-in-one platform for Vietnamese and overseas industrialists to discover the most up-to-date techniques and solutions in welding industry.
